Ashley Cureton Turner is a second-year doctoral student at the School of Social Service Administration (SSA) at the University of Chicago.  She received her AM from SSA in 2010, and a BA in anthropology from DePaul University in 2008.  Previously, Ashley served as a research associate at Northwestern University’s Institute for Policy Research.  She assisted with the implementation and evaluation of Check & Connect, a comprehensive intervention designed to enhance student engagement in school, into Chicago Public Schools.  She also served as a graduate fellow with Education Pioneers in the former Attendance and Truancy Department.   Her research interests include the impact of out-of-school and community-based programs on the academic identities and outcomes of immigrant and refugee children.

She is currently working on the UChicago Consortium project Toward a Coherent Framework for Noncognitive Outcomes.  In addition to this project, Ashley participates in research studies related to early childhood education, after school programs, and school-based interventions.
