As a Research Analyst at the UChicago Consortium, Sangyoon ("Yoon") supports his project teams' quantitative research. Specifically, Yoon's common daily tasks include: wrangling and cleaning large amounts of student and teacher data from Chicago Public Schools using R and SAS; exploring data through visualization and modeling; and conducting statistical analysis using such methods as factor analysis, propensity matching, and multilevel modeling. Yoon also occasionally presents research findings in academic conferences and in meetings with stakeholders. Yoon is a staunch proponent of reproducible research and is particularly interested in communicating insights from data through effective visualizations. Prior to joining the UChicago Consortium, Yoon collaborated on a data science project on homelessness in the Bay Area as a member of the Statistics for Social Good working group at Stanford University. Yoon very much enjoys riding a bike along Lake Michigan in summertime.
